South Jordan City had a parade on Saturday June 16, 2012 -- and it's not like South Jordan Town Days when me and the family grew up in the 60's and 70's. This parade had about everything among its 87 entries. But first came the Grand Marshall, honoring the Fullmer family of Jay, Don and Gene. Many of us grew up with their children, and Grandpa has stories of this famous boxing family that go back to his youth.</blockquote>

And there were even</div>

Marching Bands, Motorcycles and Flying Carpets.</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
I can't show you those because my phone video won't upload.</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
You should have been there!</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And along came entry number 72, a float honoring </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
the first ward organized in South Jordan 150 years ago.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And no, they weren't honoring Grandpa because he was</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
the first bishop 150 years ago, but all of the 12 living bishops </div>

of the South Jordan First Ward were invited.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
About nine attended and were invited to "take the stand." </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And there's Grandpa sitting at the top in his handsome straw hat. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Next to him his Bishop Kay Arnold. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Grandpa Mabey was bishop beginning way back in about 1964. </div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Great to have you aboard Grandpa,</div>

He also shares with you pictures of typical homes in parts of the Benton Harbor area. He reports that about 30% of the homes are boarded up like that, and that many boarded up homes still have people living in them. The Michigan economy has really been hit hard and has been suffering for years and is only one of two states that goes down in population each year. But Thomas really loves meeting and talking to the people in this new area. His companion is Elder Kohler from Ammon, Idaho -- so he knows snow and cold.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Helvetica;"><br /></span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimwgx9rCwOhz0S7M5_9NFgKD4nh-H18RBEdrY3pgvSwaqPg3PIxM5cgBFdzni6o_Lsl1BNnblYsZ1Yfr1Gs22174PO_RUJzkvmQ63YuxKVcQQgZMw2mJI-3968ApkRMlj8fCIxcnJ8Nmc/s1600/Lake+Michigan.001.png" style="color: rgb(85, 136, 170); text-decoration: none; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimwgx9rCwOhz0S7M5_9NFgKD4nh-H18RBEdrY3pgvSwaqPg3PIxM5cgBFdzni6o_Lsl1BNnblYsZ1Yfr1Gs22174PO_RUJzkvmQ63YuxKVcQQgZMw2mJI-3968ApkRMlj8fCIxcnJ8Nmc/s400/Lake+Michigan.001.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573371823131052098" style="border-top-width: 1px; border-right-width: 1px; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-left-width: 1px; padding-top: 4px; padding-right: 4px; padding-bottom: 4px; padding-left: 4px; border-top-style: solid; border-right-style: solid; border-bottom-style: solid; border-left-style: solid; border-top-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); border-right-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); border-bottom-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); border-left-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px; " /></a><div style="text-align: center; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Helvetica;"><i>click to enlarge</i></span></div></div><div style="text-align: center; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Helvetica;"><i><br /></i></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Helvetica;">They really don't seem to mind the weather. At the beginning the work was really tough because previous missionaries in the area the past year or so were not good missionaries. They have now won over the confidence of some of the members so they get better support for rides, etc. Hopefully, the members will now bring some good contacts for them to teach. They spent a lot of time knocking, as that was about all they had to start with. But slowly they have built up a great pool of investigators and contacts. One week they had 22 follow-up appointments which is way high for their mission. Last week they had 17, so all the work paid off. You may have read his email of February 12 where he reported they had an investigator attend church, which is very good for his mission. They are teaching some promising contacts and our prayers are with Thomas and all the missionaries.</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Helvetica;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Helvetica;">We love Thomas!!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Helvetica;">Best to all, John.</span></div></div></span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1855660038655097899.post-61691511719806346982010-11-27T23:00:00.000-08:002010-11-27T23:06:24.117-08:00Farewell to East Lansing<div>Thomas has been in such a nice situation in the <a href="http://www.ldschurchnews.com/articles/31361/LDS-living-center-offers-students-haven-from-world.html">Living Center</a> directly across the street from Michigan State for over 3 months now serving in the Williamston area. As the week begins he'll be transfered to a new area, <a href="http://www.sjcity.com/">St. Joseph </a>and I thought it might be nice to bid farewell with a few pictures. Elder Mabey has had three different companions while in this area and learned a lot about how to serve the Lord in the beautiful state of Michigan! He has come to love the PEOPLE that he's been serving, all ages and ethic groups. He also reports he's fine tuned his basketball shot, loved attending the Michigan State/Purde football game and thrilled to have seen the Sigma Chi house on campus. </div><div><br /></div><div>However, he is anxious to move on to where the Lord will have him serve next which is along the shores of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Michigan">Lake Michigan</a> and reported to have good oppertunities for missionary work!</div><div><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYYPDpmrpLoNRwHXX0ziB6QQRhCRWvsB8SR8DCm9i-0lTxDZiukdMdMELp3G4VQ2MA_1gt4WakTi62zyPlImF9TJ1TXIys0gPiw4O3sIWVKw0hyphenhyphen7evHIe1BVzrBoG93NZh5sf4qd7gUYE/s1600/Williamston+.001.png"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYYPDpmrpLoNRwHXX0ziB6QQRhCRWvsB8SR8DCm9i-0lTxDZiukdMdMELp3G4VQ2MA_1gt4WakTi62zyPlImF9TJ1TXIys0gPiw4O3sIWVKw0hyphenhyphen7evHIe1BVzrBoG93NZh5sf4qd7gUYE/s400/Williamston+.001.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5544484166526032722" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px; " /></a><div style="text-align: center; ">click to enlarge</div><div style="text-align: left; "><br /></div><div style="text-align: left; ">If you want to send him an email, his address hasn't changed. He isn't sad to leave Big Rapids, but he recognizes that he learned valuable lessons in the three months he was there. He loved his last companion, Elder Hunt. They worked hard and had fun while they were doing it. Here is a quote from his letter:</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><br /></span></div><div></div>It’s crazy how hard it is to get people to pick up the book and read it. That’s how Dawn was this transfer. She said that she believed in everything we were saying besides Joseph Smith, but she wouldn’t read the Book of Mormon because she knew it wasn’t true. It’s hard to tell people what they are missing out on without offending them. In the future I plan on emphasizing the question "what if it were true? How important would that be for you?" it really is a crazy story. Everything about Mormonism is nuts. I know because I have researched a bunch of other religions. That’s why it’s so important to know if it’s true so you're not just wasting your time with some bogus story. Because if Joseph Smith really saw what he said he did, then that means Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that his church is again on the earth. And all revelations given since that time are true as well- pretty intense stuff. And that being true it means that as members of the church we have a huge responsibility to spread the gospel, which literally means good news, to everyone that will listen.</span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1855660038655097899.post-89826943477617203772010-04-19T16:41:00.000-07:002010-04-19T16:46:42.175-07:00Michigan Missionary<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-bpwDPdhwGLmwnzkxtUEa6WmtyFrLxyCV8c_4Uo1sYqNHv8-RuOMVQfw5mdQrZTj-dlvINwGZOon6E1J9LY7tBxDXXP9qmpp-GQMIzJhos21vjtIdKnDSeS0V-RQzHx5jpmkutpNfrBIw/s1600/DH000044.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-bpwDPdhwGLmwnzkxtUEa6WmtyFrLxyCV8c_4Uo1sYqNHv8-RuOMVQfw5mdQrZTj-dlvINwGZOon6E1J9LY7tBxDXXP9qmpp-GQMIzJhos21vjtIdKnDSeS0V-RQzHx5jpmkutpNfrBIw/s400/DH000044.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5461998641223572882" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic; "><div style="text-align: justify; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: normal; ">Who ever coined the phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words" was right. We did learn some new things, like calling ambulances and ER routines, but they kept repeating themselves so we need something else to think about.</div>
<br /><div> Because we should never stop learning, I am trying out this Blog. It appears that the other people on here tried it at least once. It looks to be rather neglected so it will be a good place to practise. </div>
<br /><div> I hope we have seen the last of the knee immobilizer, but need to keep it as a reminder of how thankful we are that it is no longer needed.</div>

It was an absoultely beautiful day, I had my camera and took pictures so maybe your memories can be jogged of Memorial Days of yester year. <div><br /></div><div>We started off the morning with the traditional ceremony at the South Jordan Cemetary where we ran into many extended family members and had what every kid waits for, the firing of the guns. In case you were wondering, kids still scramble to pick up the shells. Visiting with the Burgons and Miners was had and then we left Grandpa and Grandma to decorate the graves and we began a tour of the Mabey properties.</div><div><br /></div><div>John reminised about the Albert and Celestine Mabey home and told Thomas where the original cabin had been. We drove down Mabey Lane and checked in on the new development that is starting to take shape. If you haven't seen the Hindu Temple or Annt Mame's house, I recommend that drive. Then we finished our rounds with admiring the beautiful old farm equipment in the farm yard. There are some dandies. </div><div><br /></div><div>Hope your Memorial Day was as lovely as ours was.</div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyLBs3pj0sz9npzVsIoaZME8ZbqcQzAO3wz6zFD9x7sNoU_rNA0xKZjtzH4MAdz_CNydualM1BTt93sEd712mvmJgv6WMfe98W1jaAxclNtlNhVGQu8jVXGEYvszysLb7lMo9-i2kDCXQp/s400/memorial+day+%232.001.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5341739645493525298" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px; " /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrLKw8z2wK2g37s2iynPlWJvbw3cloHYVwy8npvzlQMg3-fb4XnxCyLJJapS9zZeZheL1RV7fn55WGqlnojRmKIIdNto5gc8SQrAwROKM-t4ob3ru44_WtOdjVhYen35_mCHuuvDYr-CAm/s400/memorial+day+%233.001.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5341739645858694818" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px; " /></span></div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv-mwzVy6dSukcjeRWQxSstN1jTDx9PUirmFTbRpJtn-spazHuwxGyAhx94M29TFctfZwlq8Sy51o0691lD9HLF4tumj3qx657Mk65eT2k1ICByRt2nGbJg2uyByqafeaFs0tMzap1jIfm/s400/memorial+hindu.001.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5341739650540077378" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px; " /></span></div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsCqTWGM8_YoN4VEeheRnY8aT3el1gqsZVVNIQSBVQ8chL0DpLpD5GVNulANBzSgBVGGfqzrg9LqpdNE3T2-H1xyIcliNcf9XmfaJMNPiujp1DPqqP22CEipFgsR5HFMpK1PsHn7FZw3iL/s400/memorial+day+%234.001.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5341739647641333858" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px; " /></span></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1855660038655097899.post-63966101821286221342009-05-02T09:20:00.000-07:002009-05-02T10:34:02.770-07:00Endless Song<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIyWoomGbG6fUYGX-74GBU_mqST_Hi_qLD3qbV4t3Z9QQdkOHxRYaenhXnIiHLYVk4JyNr4wgUKrPKlg-paG1ucO8sn4H1Z9c9X_EcPbDvMRe8heA_ye5eMv-spNEi5NeZ2oXXN_TEyarU/s1600-h/singers_727x255_31.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 140px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIyWoomGbG6fUYGX-74GBU_mqST_Hi_qLD3qbV4t3Z9QQdkOHxRYaenhXnIiHLYVk4JyNr4wgUKrPKlg-paG1ucO8sn4H1Z9c9X_EcPbDvMRe8heA_ye5eMv-spNEi5NeZ2oXXN_TEyarU/s400/singers_727x255_31.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5331280500507019746" /></a><br />On Monday night we went to hear Marianne's choir, the University of Utah Singer's where we heard several beautiful pieces of music, but there was one in particular that was outstanding. It's called Endless Song and I think they will be performing it in Eastern Europe in a few weeks on their tour as one of their contest pieces. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did in person!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1855660038655097899.post-80376512017776726372009-03-12T21:42:00.000-07:002009-03-12T21:55:32.401-07:00My Surprise Student<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9eMPjLB8rIyg0dP6YZMKTdbD3GBwucVBGFnBRNayCBK74_Qoq2b_pB70jThFjZ14A0TLCKkeC3hiNPzWC2b5LUJte7HlBV6r09rW4kwfmssAitPTQjec6lQqZbcP9RmfI86gi8ar3ZmsK/s1600-h/IMG_1963.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9eMPjLB8rIyg0dP6YZMKTdbD3GBwucVBGFnBRNayCBK74_Qoq2b_pB70jThFjZ14A0TLCKkeC3hiNPzWC2b5LUJte7HlBV6r09rW4kwfmssAitPTQjec6lQqZbcP9RmfI86gi8ar3ZmsK/s320/IMG_1963.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312530915420732482" /></a><br /><br /><br />Tonight I had a fabulous surprise at my cooking class. Deanna came! It was wonderful to have a familiar face in the class - it really put me at ease and the whole night just went better because she was there. Don't we always think things go better when Deanna's around? She also took a few pictures of me "instructing" and who knows if that will ever happen again. Then we stopped at BYU, ate pizza at Heap's, and made it to Grandma & Grandpa's later that evening. We rounded the week out with a little shopping, a few movies, too many episodes of "Spongebob Squarepants," (Connor & Andrew just LOVE Grandpa's DirectTV connection...), a great New Year's Eve feast/party at Jim & Deanna's, a visit to Body Worlds, the Sugar Bowl party (go Utes!), a visit w/ Lee & Marlene & family, a new blanket of snow, and a long drive home. At least Tyler was a happy camper -- we managed to find his "New Super Mario" DS game at Game Stop in Las Vegas. Of course, it only took stops along the way at 2 Best Buys, 1 Costco, 1 Target, and 1 Walmart to find it. No wonder I'm tired. </span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq9BbeDjhihFQWsCukt-Uuoji9fkg8WHs54HiaYKu2dhb8FU7OitUoUaHHE8p9e7TzI3aa1Fxv1uCKom3cC4T_rbc27w53U8q-dSbqvDq3ZFHR1WwBm0IC-9hl9ZJ7uunaQCj3dUpLnjs/s1600-h/IMG_0448.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 256px; height: 192px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq9BbeDjhihFQWsCukt-Uuoji9fkg8WHs54HiaYKu2dhb8FU7OitUoUaHHE8p9e7TzI3aa1Fxv1uCKom3cC4T_rbc27w53U8q-dSbqvDq3ZFHR1WwBm0IC-9hl9ZJ7uunaQCj3dUpLnjs/s320/IMG_0448.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289001860711480066" border="0" /></a><br /><a style="color: rgb(51, 102, 255);" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsE8LO7AgGwktQDCeERO09rzgmtdmTsiHPb3EarH_oWQITeNKDleFk5wocMLAg07pqAjeDn2-l59nTZ-8DM1qLmiX7Moko_9JohXeqabZA35GtueAI6_0uxTWTaNJ1Og8nlC5iKdz5ZSk/s1600-h/IMG_0377.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 254px; height: 190px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsE8LO7AgGwktQDCeERO09rzgmtdmTsiHPb3EarH_oWQITeNKDleFk5wocMLAg07pqAjeDn2-l59nTZ-8DM1qLmiX7Moko_9JohXeqabZA35GtueAI6_0uxTWTaNJ1Og8nlC5iKdz5ZSk/s320/IMG_0377.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5288989595409589458" border="0" /></a><span style="color: rgb(51, 102, 255);font-family:trebuchet ms;" ></span><span style="color: rgb(51, 102, 255);font-family:trebuchet ms;" ></span><span style="color: rgb(51, 102, 255);"> </span>socalmabeyshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09666071767196725660noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1855660038655097899.post-67876307562806951362009-01-01T11:07:00.000-08:002009-01-01T11:40:39.690-08:00New Year's Eve with Grandpa and Grandma, Deanna, Todd, John's Families<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7QBFQvt7ZoCtazYTBXPWC6D2oqdQGs9qvE4lcfz6OBZlhLpAX1fHOOj0HUHs3JbdaBid8FCLUC02PodnDGHiLMgcBbMtJsOAHKM4pR-aJ17dUNhRLFPcFTN4ydErGq0ZSV-KyX2mRvCxE/s1600-h/Connor's+Squid+Drawing.jpeg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 277px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7QBFQvt7ZoCtazYTBXPWC6D2oqdQGs9qvE4lcfz6OBZlhLpAX1fHOOj0HUHs3JbdaBid8FCLUC02PodnDGHiLMgcBbMtJsOAHKM4pR-aJ17dUNhRLFPcFTN4ydErGq0ZSV-KyX2mRvCxE/s400/Connor's+Squid+Drawing.jpeg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5286404592057055330" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(51, 0, 153);"><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:'trebuchet ms';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Last night was spent having lots of fun at Deanna and Jim's house eating, talking, playing a few games and eating again. No, it's not that Christian won the costume contest--although, this golf outfit is pretty darn good. <br /><br />Christian has been interviewing and going through the recruiting process with the big 4 accounting firms. It has been quite the experience and very time consuming. But it definitely paid off. Christian has been offered and accepted an internship at Price Waterhouse Coopers. He'll most-likely start in January and get a taste for "busy season" which will last til about May. I think the only downside of the internship is that Christian won't be able to enjoy March Madness like he loves to.candacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03854900652925911026noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1855660038655097899.post-19701642722907761412008-11-06T07:40:00.000-08:002008-11-06T07:55:45.130-08:00Marianne and The University of Utah SINGERS<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1fzbpwqIKCcbdQ6HapIV7Gm5MBjP4RRXgSKBJgZofB9484Vl3vfojBkFqrVS_QZmf_Ke63ihcTuzAHHXdrknRO8zbJyg1WgCKC_oeAs7N1XUeovl0fmDCtYOC2Ax5c4N5fiB6TExuXqaG/s1600-h/IMG_0710.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1fzbpwqIKCcbdQ6HapIV7Gm5MBjP4RRXgSKBJgZofB9484Vl3vfojBkFqrVS_QZmf_Ke63ihcTuzAHHXdrknRO8zbJyg1WgCKC_oeAs7N1XUeovl0fmDCtYOC2Ax5c4N5fiB6TExuXqaG/s320/IMG_0710.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265573470716815106" border="0" /></a><br />Marianne is in a wonderful, if not fabulous choral group at the University of Utah. A few weeks ago on a Sunday night we were treated to a concert in the Libby Gardner Concert Hall on campus where the "The University of Utah Singers" did their thing! They sang songs from their new CD that is just being released (some of you may be getting it as a Christmas gift)- it is a wonderful collection of Christmas music, as well as a variety of classical, gospel and even some pieces from Oklahoma! the musical. John was the first one in the audience on his feet at the end to give his praise of the event. It was really a wonderful evening of music. We were so happy to see Deanna and Jim there that night and as their special guests Aunt Helen and her friend.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1855660038655097899.post-73724781908759886072008-11-02T19:39:00.001-08:002008-11-02T19:45:48.952-08:00I taught Chris how to blog!!She learned so fast and I am so proud of her for learning. With Candace's help I may move into the computer age! HAHA! This will be so fun to stay in touch with all of you. So, new news- I got two calls today from Canada . The first was a lady that is a stake missionary and working with Paden and she just loves him and the second was a lady that's an investigator and a widow and Paden has been teaching and helping her. It's so good to hear that he has so many people that love him and are going to miss him. Funerals are strange, I feel deep sadness at the loss but am renewed spiritually.<br /><br /> The funeral brought many memories back about my Uncle Sherman. I have fond memories of hauling hay with him, watching him repair his tractors and trucks on multiple occassion, and watching him irrigate. <br /><br /> The farm yard was a magical place when I was a kid. It was a place to explore, play basketball and softball. It was fun to see the animals especially the new baby colts and calves.Deannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01215093857917697553noreply@blogger.com1
